Is there anybody out there at Vodafone Marketing Hadquarters ???


Today, as some of you may know, is “the day”, the day you can pre-order the new iPad from Apple’s website in Spain… but I can`t believe the experience the Red-blooded guys had prepared for me (everyone)… and It made me wonder…


Is this all you can do ???

is it what you think about marketing should be (is…)... ???


Let me show you the way to this “great experience” in three simple steps...


1. Step 1: connect to apple.es scroll down the screen to check on the 3G plan options you will be able to buy with your brand new iPad


2. Step 2: Select the carrier you want click to see the 3G plan options you should buy with your brand new iPad, I have Vodafone so…



3. Step 3: tic-tac-tic-toc... can´t wait to see what they've got... just can't wait.. .voila there it is... ooopppssss !!!




WOW !!!

… all you see on the landing page is “AN ERROR” !!!


I can`t be possible… “the day” is here and you have nothing more, nothing best to show in your landing page than an error… someone is going to get a lot of responsibility for this… pay for it… not the consumers... but the consumers you won´t catch !!!

NO WAI T !!! I can`t be true,

"Power to you" (so they say...)…


So… let`s think it is my error, my mistake, and let’s do the right steps… log on to Vodafone.es site... and search for iPad ads there should be something big… wooow there’re none !!!




Conclusion: The point here is... If you are (you've always been...) the underdog trying to catch up your main competitor, the one who's got iPhones, the one who's been selling them for almost two years in a lock-in contract, the one who´s been cashing'em while you sell blackberries when people keep asking you for iPhones…


When you know that consumers are waiting (and say it loud everywhere) at the line right outside to have free a election of the 3G voice/data carrier for apple’s products…

do you really believe that this is your best shot !!! ???

this was the best you can do ???

I Can´t believe you have not worked hard (day and night) to be the best in the world, so consumers (people) can see you as the best in the world, and choose you instead of your competitors... you should’ve done anything in your hand to make it happen, to design and implement the best experience to attract new customers to you... specially at this moment, this moment of truth, when a consumer is giving you his most valuable treasure, his/her attention and you don´t have to go out to the doomed and ended world of advertising to get a few customers... because the customer is the one who's coming to you to say "hey I I'm giving you the opportunity to sell me something"..., and you respond with AN ERROR, try to Imagine the size of the mistake when you even answer in another non-human language... wow...

That’s the difference between professional marketers on “interruption marketing” (the dead old-model) and “permission and social marketing” (how things are done these days… )…

Right brand statement (power to you),

Wrong brand implementation (say what you do, do what you say…

but also, and most important thing, act like you say your values are)


My question is... don´t you really think you can work harder and smarter to get this image to customers minds ??? Don´t cha ???
